There are many disorders that develop with social trends in our society. Most of them are called micro-traumatic and occur from a person’s job that requires some repetitive motion. When the technological and clerical age became more popular, the incidence of carpal tunnel increased. Tennis enthusiast experience tennis elbow, golfers own golfer’s elbow. Now cell phone users have their own disorder to claim.

The latest micro trauma complaint is centered on the popular use of cell phones. Constantly bending the arm to hold the phone to the ear places tension on the nerve that runs under the “funny bone” in the elbow. Atlanta is no stranger to the amount of people who use mobile phones.

Numbness and tingling are experienced in the pinky and ring finger and muscle strength decreases while gripping. This makes typing and holding things is difficult and painful. These symptoms are very similar to carpal tunnel syndrome. Surgery can be avoided by being proactive.

The natural way to prevent cell phone elbow is to make sure you follow these tips:

use a hands free device (preferable not wireless

change hands while talking on the phone long periods

massage the inner part of your elbow and forearm if it feels sore

Treatment for cell phone elbow can be conservative and includes ultrasound therapy and chiropractic treatment to insure no bony structures are causing entrapment to the nerves while they pass through the elbow.

A Minnesota Judge has ruled a child with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma must have chemotherapy therapy if his next x-ray study indicates his cancer is spreading. The child, Daniel Hauser is a 13 year old patient. His family has opted to treat his condition using alternative treatments.

The Judge ruled in a 58 page ruling that Daniel was being medically neglected by his parents because they chose to use less invasive methods to help their child. Daniel’s parents stopped the chemotherapy in February after one treatment and chose the alternative methods due to religious beliefs. It is reported that Daniel made the decision himself to stop treatment but the judge felt he does not fully understand the condition he is suffering from.

The concern with this ruling is the ability for the legal system to govern what your personal decision would be for your health. There is a very fine line being crossed in this Judges ruling. Being forced to receive a treatment that you choose not to have does not appear to be ethical.

Sluggish bowels occur when there are limited or no bowel movements after eating. Naturally, your body should have at least three bowel movements per day. On average, most people have one bowel movement per day to avoid major illness and toxin build up you need to have a bowel movement once per week.

Sluggish bowels may cause many types of illnesses and symptoms. Toxins that should be eliminated rather quickly accumulate in the intestine and will wreak havoc on your entire system. Having sluggish bowels can lead to low energy a weakened immune system and an overall feeling of being ill.

Here are three common herbs that will provide relief and lend support to a sluggish bowel.

Organic Ginger Root is great for stimulating peristalsis to help bowel movements get started. Peristalsis is the term used to describe the muscle contractions that push waste through the intestinal tract. There are plant chemicals in ginger root that make it useful for combating nausea during pregnancy or from motion sickness.

Organic Turkey Rhubarb has been used by the Chinese for constipation for years. Components of this herb increase the volume in the intestine and the increased pressure causes stimulation of the muscles that initiate bowel movements. Another herb that acts in the same manner is Cascara Sagrada. Wildcrafted aloe and black walnut hulls are widely used to relieve constipation.

Native Americans widely used Slippery Elm Bark to soothe areas of the intestinal tract that were irritated and this helped relieve any pain which occurred during bowel movements. Another natural way to improve digestion and get rid of sluggish bowel is to use a good probiotic or digestive enzyme that will aid in digesting the foods you eat. Your bowels may also be sluggish due to poor digestion and breakdown of the protein rich foods. Remember to drink a lot of water to increase volume to your stool and try using one of the herbs mentioned for a natural solution to your sluggish bowels.

For more info: Remember to consult your doctor before any changes are made to your diet. Feel free to contact Dr. Evans at info@evansclinic.com for more tips on what herbs stop constipation and sluggish bowels.

The metro Atlanta area is no stranger to chiropractic care. Actually the largest chiropractic school in the world is located in Marietta, GA. Every day thousands of chiropractors improve the lives of headache sufferers using natural and effective methods. Headaches are caused by many different triggers. From the common headache to migraines, any type causes a large amount of undue stress for millions of people.

Stress from personal matters such as relationships, finances or work can manifest into a physical problem. What tends to occur when you have stress is the unconscious tightening of the muscles around our neck and shoulders. You may be completely unaware when you shrug your shoulders but it is a very common reaction to emotional and physical stress. The problem in doing this arises when your muscles are tense on a continual basis. Without knowing it you are training your muscles to overwork and stay in a shrugged position.

Each vertebrae of your spine is freely movable in comparison to the one above and below it. Your para-spinal muscles dictate the position of the bones in your spine. There are strong muscles at the back of your skull that connect to the bones in your neck. These muscles control movements such as turning your head from side to side, looking up and down, etc. When you have a repeated tightening of these muscles the bones in the upper area (cervical region) of your spine are pulled. This slight movement away from their normal position is many times the root cause of your common headache. The medical term for this improper movement is a vertebral subluxation, which simply means the bone is out of its normal place but it is not dislocated.

Chiropractors are trained to detect which bones in the spine are not in their proper position and how to gently align the spine to its proper position. Physiotherapy may also be used to relax the inflamed muscles that initially caused the problem. The chiropractic adjustment of these misaligned vertebrae has been very effective at reducing the symptoms from headaches. Many people experience relief from the adjustment very quickly and the results can last for months to years.

If you suffer from headaches you should visit a metro Atlanta chiropractor. The physical exam during your initial visit will help determine the underlying causes of your headache problem. Working with the natural solutions from the doctor will help your body better manage the effect of stress to your muscles and may eliminate the causes of your headache.
